Learn more about how the Wheeleo® improves the mobility of patients with Cerebral Palsy.

What is cerebral palsy?
Cerebral palsy (CP) covers multiple neurological disorders characterized by impaired movement and posture disability. It’s caused by brain damage before or during childbirth, or in the first years of life. The damage can be triggered by a genetic disorder, maternal or infant infections, fetal stroke, trauma or lack of oxygen. This results in disturbed brain development, leading to the inability to control one’s muscles.

What are the symptoms of cerebral palsy?
Depending on the affected brain area and the severity of the damage, cerebral palsy can manifest itself as stiff muscles (Spastic cerebral palsy), inability to control movement (Dyskinetic CP), poor balance and coordination (ataxic CP) or a mix of everything.

In general, the symptoms of cerebral palsy include issues with mobility, coordination and fine motor skills like talking and eating. Depending on the severity of the condition, symptoms start to show when the child starts moving. Early signs of cerebral palsy include The baby's inability to lift its head, poor muscle tone in arms and legs, stiffness in joints,...

How the Wheeleo® helps persons with cerebral palsy.

Treatment of cerebral palsy consists of trying to stimulate the child’s development as much as possible to limit the symptoms and other negative effects of the brain damage. It’s therefore important to recognize the early signs of cerebral palsy, like the child’s inability to meet milestones like crawling, walking and talking.
If you’re diagnosed with cerebral palsy, you could have experience a range of physical difficulties depending on the severity of the brain damage. When you have issues with movement, muscle tone and coordination, your doctor may have advised you to do physical therapy and to stay active as much as possible.
As a patient with cerebral palsy, you may have experienced that movement can be difficult or exhausting. Having a suitable mobility aid like a kay walker could help, but finding one that fits your needs seems impossible.

In this case, an intuitive mobility aid like the Wheeleo® can help you with improving your mobility.
